Our exhibitors

Newvaddon Parkway N Gauge Model Railway

L1: Newvaddon Parkway - 2mm Scale - Darren Glasson

Newvaddon translates from English to Cornish as Nowydh.  Set between 1995 to the present day, Newvaddon Parkway is a fictional layout based on the Cornish Main line, with branch lines at each end.  The layout draws inspiration from Newport Station(Wales) and Totnes Station(Devon).

Set two miles to the south of Tolvaddon, a fast growing town at the heart of the Cornish countryside.  Nearby Penance is a busy shipping port with various flows of coal, oil and container traffic.

L5: Charwelton into the 80's - 4mm Scale - CBM Diesel Group

The layout is based on the real location of Charwelton on the former Great central Railway (GCR). The GCR closed in the 1960s and the layout seen here is our vision if the line had still been open in the 1980s. It is built to 'OO' gauge finescale, 4mm:1ft.

The layout was originally built to be operated using DC and has been converted to DCC. We’ve refurbished the layout to bring the infrastructure and scenery into the era of BR in the 1980s. The locomotives and rolling stock used have been detailed, renumbered in some cases, weathered and fitted with DCC sound.

L3: Llanwyddyn - TT:120 - Lucy Pitch

Llanwyddyn is a fictional town set somewhere in Mid Wales during the early 1990s.

The branchline terminus station plays host to a number of Welsh Class 37/4s with various Mk2 stock, as well as local passenger services provided by Class 122 units. The station also receives mail and newspapers via rail. Opposite the station, the privately owned fuel siding receives fuel deliveries via rail whilst at the other end of the layout, an engineers siding sees occasional use for storing engineers trains.

L6: Ditcheat Junction - 4mm Scale - Devon Model Railways

Ditcheat Junction is a fictional location in Somerset, based on the Berks & Hants section of the Great Western Route.  The track layout is similar to that seen at Castle Cary, with a passenger branch line, and two mainline platforms

The station sees regular mainline and branch passenger services, freight services and engineering vehicles. The occasional rail tour can also be known to call at the station.

L4: BEIJIAO - HO Scale - Paul Stapleton

Beijiao was inspired by my many trips to China to photograph the last of Chinese steam. The layout is set in 2001 and, by then, the remaining steam action was centred around heavily polluted industrial cities in the north of China.

In the foreground, there are three China Rail tracks and, at the back of the layout, we have an industrial railway linking coal mines, off stage to the left, with a steel-works off stage to the right. Access to the steelworks is up a 1-in-30 grade and uphill trains require the help of two bankers

L13: Deadmans Lane - 4mm Scale - Mick Bryan

The layout is a depiction of the Loram site in Derby, formally the British Rail Research & Technical Centre, although very much compressed to fit the available space, portraying the workings of a busy depot and the adjacent main line with the passing trains over the past 3-4 years.

Most of the yellow stock is converted from ready-to-run items to represent test coaches such as the Electrification Measurement Vehicle and Structure Gauging Train

L10: Bristol Road - 2mm Scale - Dave Smith

Previously known as Thealby, Bristol Road is based on a pair of bi-directional lines with passenger and freight services.  During the 60's the original station was closed, with the line singled.  A boom in local industry and house building in the 2000's saw the station reopened and a DMU servicing point built nearby.

Bristol Road is DC controlled and due to feature in Railway Modeller Magazine shortly.

L2: Fareford East - 4mm Scale - Fareham MRC

Fareford East is a busy southern region terminus with 3rd rail trackwork and a London Underground connection.  Fareford East will be running in the period 1986-1994, celebrating the historic years of Network SouthEast operating on the Southern main line.

 Fareham Model Railway Club

L17: Cardiff Canton - 4mm Scale - Chris Fordham

Based in the period of 1998-2004, Cardiff Canton Depot has been faithfully researched and modelled by Chris.  This busy Welsh depot was a hive of activity, supporting the South Wales heavy industries of Coal, Steel and Chemicals.

Join us on the footbridge to catch the last of the traditional British Rail Traction at work as the new wave of American power takes over.
